Join textile artist and designer Damien Ajavon for an inspiring lecture exploring craft as a fluid space for healing, self-expression, and community building, followed by a panel discussion reflecting on collaboration. Drawing from international experiences spanning Italy, Quebec, and Senegal, Ajavon’s artistic practice explores how tactile making connects cultural heritage, history, and personal identity. By using manual techniques such as weaving, knotting, and dyeing, Ajavon treats textiles as a visual language to document stories and share global cultural perspectives. Through this work, Ajavon demonstrates how crafting communities break down barriers, preserve oral traditions, and build lasting collaborative relationships.

Following the lecture, the panel will explore how creativity drives collaboration across continents, cultures, and practices. Focusing on the intersections between independent practitioners and larger organizations, the conversation will address how these partnerships enrich both sides and why they are vital to the future of design.
