Looking from within

Looking from within

Publicerat 2021.03.04

In this two part lecture series we explore the philosophy of Saki the artist Mafundikwa: looking from within. We begin the series online with an introduction to Mam’Gobozi Design Factory and reference some of their favourite artists and where they draw inspiration from.

Design as a field of creative expression is where much of the studios work stems from and they use typography, graphic design, illustration and more as a decolonial practice of defining the design field for themselves. This is a way for the design duo to see the link between the past and present in order to live in the future. – the future where the knowledge of their people lives on.

Nontokozo Tshabalala was born in South Africa and is currently a student at HDK in Gothenburg. She is a multidisciplinary artist and her work includes graphic design and poetry. Nontokozo is one of the founders of Mam’Gobozi Design Factory.

The lecture starts at 18.30 and will be held online. Follow the link to join the lecture, no pre-registration needed: http://bit.ly/3pPz8CP
