Hej, vad gör du Nick Overington?
Right now I am working with the team on a delivering extra content for our fans through what we call the Living Game. It evolves from feedback via our community and extra updates that we have planned for Need for Speed.
How did everything go with development of the new Need for Speed version?
It went well thanks. We delivered a great game that has been really well received by our fans who are engaged with the game and continue to impress us with their creativity, especially around the in-game wrap editor which allows you to really express your individual personality on your car.
And what is it you do more exactly?
I am a Compliance Quality Designer. I work within the Quality Assurance and Testing team at EA and my job is to ensure our titles ship to quality within a guideline framework that is set by various teams.
So, could you describe the gaming community here a bit?
I can only describe as much as I know - being an expat - but I have learned a little which is largely due to the passionate Swedish gamers at Ghost Games. I have learned that the industry is very much growing in Sweden and also in Gothenburg with the newly formed Games Expo which recently happened. An increase in game studios can only be a good thing as it attracts more talent to the country and will benefit the industry long term.
Do you see any points in more collaboration with the gaming industry and other parts of the creative industry?Yes most definitely. I think all creative industries should collaborate as you never know where a great idea may come from. After we integrated real time composting into our game engine, we collaborated with a large production house who supported us in bringing to life our narrative through their film expertise. Through this collaboration we were able to see the result of seamlessly blurring the lines between real life and in-game footage.
